Above and Beyond.....

That's been the motto of Tampa Airport for a few years now and the recent northeast snowstorm gave me the chance to "live the motto".

Its not hard to understand how a major snowstorm can cause huge problems for our northern airport friends, but, there is a ripple effect felt here in sunny Tampa, FL - lots and lots of stranded travelers, lots of airplanes needing a place to park and a group of 35 stranded college baseball team members not getting to Philadelphia for the next few days.

So what does one do with a group of college baseball team members whose luggage was somehow already sent off and are surving on little money and sharing airport food??? Well, this Assistant Director of Operations gave them a pizza party courtesy of the Aviation Authority. It seemed the reasonable thing to do since their coach called us after becoming frustrated with the airline and getting no results. While there are many ways I can help, getting them out of here faser is something I can do little to help, however, I can make their stay at Tampa Int'l Airport a little more pleasant.

With that in mind, I ordered up 9 large pizzas and sodas and had them as my guest in the boardroom. They enjoyed it immensely and I felt really good about doing something nice for some college kids in a not so nice position. As luck woud have their fortunes changed for the better and they were able to fly out that night at 10pm!
