Caution: Long blog ahead
I had a simple plan at the beginning of the year....fence in the back yard. Along the way I got a serious urge to grow blueberries. Last month, with the help of my parents who were visiting for a little bit, we completed the fence and cleared out a good portion of the backyard vegetation. The blueberry plants I ordered online came a week later and we were off and running....plan fulfilled....fence up and blueberries in!!
Recently, however, something wonderful, almost magical has happened around this household! Julie has become one with nature, one with the backyard and her Martha Stewart like chromosome has blossomed with new ideas for the backyard and how it should be landscaped. Now don't get me wrong, she's always liked the outdoors but the Florida insect population has found her to be just as sweet as I have. The bug bites along with a messy back yard has kept her from enjoying our cozy little lawn, until now!!!! Now my friends, the backyard is defined and cleaned and organized!!
And the revelation has begun......we are working together to redefine our backyard living space!! We even made a trip to the local extension office to get some ideas from their gardens and visit with some of her former co-workers.
Armed with fresh and new ideas we decided it was time to try real life, full flung nursery. None of this big box retailer garden center crap!! So we visited a nursery not far from the extension office, one of those places we had been past a million times but never bothered to stop in.
We went in with ideas and came out with some fresh new landscaping items for the back and the front! The selection was endless and we will be back!
And now, a new plan.......This endless selection included....wait for it.....wait for it.....wait for it.....you won't believe it......you won't believe it.......BLUEBERRY plants! I can't believe it, I overgoogled and overlooked my search for blueberry plants. They were right here all along in a nursery just across town. And....they're full grown bushes, with berries and all! Now....follow very very carefully for the new plan....... I will plan to get 2 of those blueberry plants for the new patch, the 2 existing dwarf varieties that are currently in the ground will go in nice hanging pots to be place on the fence post above the current blueberry patch where the new blueberry plants will be planted along with the other existing new blueberry plant that was ordered with the other 2 dwarf plants.
Stay tuned for more updates and pictures on this backyard revelation that is sweeping "The Nicewinter Garden".

Sounds great! I can't wait to see how it turns out.
Which nursery did you end up using? I am always looking for a good variety of plants from a small nursery!
