Corn Re-born!

I had big plans this fall for a garden full of fresh sweet corn, something I had yet to accomplish with great success. I prepared the lot with a heaping mound of compost and was ready to go!

Two months later I've pulled out most of my original cornstalks and have replanted the entire garden with new corn seed. The reason.......overwhelming support for my corn project by the local pest community and my lack of aggression in destroying them. Yes, I completely underestimated how supportive the pest would be in eating up the cornstalks before one single kernel could ripen.

So, we try again, but this time, we will be armed with frequent doses of pesticide. Even with the new corn now popping out of the ground, a new and more frequent application of stinky garlic barrier has begun. We will be ready this time!

And stay tuned because we're getting ready to start buttercrunch lettuce heads soon!!
