Unlike garden enemy #2, number 3 is much smaller and somewhat easier to control. My first round of corn was rapidly attacked by these little worms eating away at the plant from deep inside the stalk. (He's in the picture if you look close enough)Unfortunately for this little guy, I have adopted a much more aggressive pesticide program with a new, tougher organic pesticide. The second planting of the corn is looking much better. Along with the new pesticide, I'm also trying a new organic fertilizer from my favorite garden shop, Worm's Way.
Coming next week.......Garden enemy #4.......you will be just as shocked as I was!!
