I ended up with a few small ears of corn, most of them without kernels, but that's what happens when you don't have a bumper crop to pollinate each other. I picked one ear this afternoon and, amazingly enough, it had kernels on it. So many in fact, that it was cooked up for Olivia to have as a mini snack!
The cornstalk from a couple of posts back has matured and grown well above the rest. It's ear is still growing and there's hope that it to may be a nice little snack for Olivia!
I'm not sure how this plant did it, but there is some hope for my future crops!
Unlike the fall corn crop, the green beans proved to be abundant with at least 4 harvests coming from the 2 rows that were planted. We've got a large bag of them ready to go for Thanksgiving Day.
Lettuce continues to do well and we picked a few radishes this afternoon.
Two rows of peas and another row of radish and carrots were also planted this afternoon. They'll be joining a second planting of beans that are now just starting to flower.
Despite the disappointing corn crop this fall, we've more than made up for it in beans and other good veggies!
