So, we are off and running with the Brandywine and Amish Paste tomato plants! A row of cucumbers will be planted this week and before you know it, it'll be time for a summer of sweet potatoes. Stay tuned!

In the Ground!
After being pretty sure that our really cold spells are behind us, I finally put the spring tomato plants in the ground this week. This year I tried something new once the seedlings were big enough to come out of the starting tray, peat pots instead of ceramic ones. The big advantage to peat pots is the elimination of a second transfer from the ceramic pot to the garden. Peat pots decompose once they go in the ground. The pictures below show just how easy that is. The Starbucks coffee cup collar around the plant helps to keep little cutworms from chopping down the plant in its early stages. Cutworms Love nice young tender plants!
