Growing Red

It occurred to me the other day that just about everything I've planted in the garden this year has been some variety of a red something or other. Not sure how that happened and I certainly did not plan it that way.

I believe it came to me when I was mentally cataloging what was in the garden this year and thinking about what to plant for the fall. I'm usually a season ahead when it comes to planning what gets planted next. Once the current crop is in the ground its time to wait, water and watch it grow.

Red cabbage, red foliated cotton, red onion, cherry tomato, sweet potatoes and watermelon are all in the garden and all, with the exception of the sweet taters, are either growing red or will produce a red fruit.

Take a look at our cotton blooms that although will produce a white cotton, the plant is a nice dark red and the flowers have a hint of red and pink.....
