Growing up in Pennsylvania allowed me to experience some really good things in life: teaberry ice cream, Middleswarth potato chips, Mays Drive-in, shoo fly pie, Copes corn, turkey hill stuff and so on. Since moving to Florida over 11 years ago I've never been able to find anything even close to those favorites I grew up with....Until NOW!
That's right, today, we took a little adventure around Tampa Bay and just a short 40 miles across the bay we found the potato chips, the Copes corn, the shoo fly pie and even some Turkey Hill ice tea that Julie goes crazy for (see her blog). And you ask, "but how?". A little place called the http://www.theamishcountrystore.com/ in Largo, Florida just happens to import all the good stuff straight from Lancaster, PA. They have been doing this since 1997 after moving here from Harrisburg and apparently missed all those things just like us!
So, tonight for dinner I'll have pie and potato chips and and wash it all down with a Kutztown Soda, white birch beer! Next trip we'll pick up more goodies including the Frozen Run white birch beer that I am certain my neighbor back home, Ed, introduced me to so long ago!!

Oh my God! Middleswarth, Frozen Run, I'm so jealous. I can't even get that stuff here in CT. I can get Turkey Hill ice cream, but no shoo fly pie. ):
Eat some extra chips for me!!
