That's a sour citrus!

It wasn't long after we moved into our house 6 years ago that I spotted a nice little citrus tree sitting there at the Lowe's garden center. It, along with a little key lime tree were calling my name. We had our very own house with our very own backyard and its Florida after all, and I could grow my very own oranges....wow!! Visions of orange juice and key limes danced in my head!! So the trees came home with us to live their young new lives with a young new couple in the brand new house........!

Six years later visions of puckering lips haunt me as my citrus tree has grown into a prolific producer of calamodins (panama orange). What's a calamondin you ask???? Its the most sour orange in the galaxy! I really could not have asked for a faster, better producing citrus tree, BUT, its not quite the sweet Valencia orange that once danced in my dreams.

So what do you do with bunches of these tiny little oranges? You make marmalade!!!!!!!!! Or a pie!!!!! And yesterday, I made marmalade!

And what about my key lime tree?? I'm still waiting for my first key lime!

Anyways, enjoy the pictures below of the calamondin tree and the marmalade it turned into!! Stay tuned for exciting details of my new garden conquest!!
