A Beautiful Thing....

While most of the country celebrates Labor Day as the symbolic end of summer, Olivia's Organic Veggie Patch here at the "Inn at Nicewinter" is kicking off the Fall growing season! The plastic is off, solarization is over and a fresh load of homemade compost covers the garden.

Work is well underway to make this season the best one yet. Winter guests this year will have a bounty of fresh, organic carrots, cucumbers, lettuce and heirloom tomatoes to enjoy! In fact, a new heirloom tomato variety is being grown for the first time, Gold Medal ( a yellow/orange tomato, very sweet). Of course the ever popular Brandywine tomato will return from seeds saved from last years record setting plant.

Planting will begin in the coming weeks as the compost soaks into the soil and the garden is straightened up a bit.

(Tall seedling is the Brandywine, 2 smaller seedlings are Gold Medals)
