For the first time in many months, I've had an entire weekend off including the Friday before and the Monday after. So, it was extra nice that it just happened to be my Birthday on Sunday. 35 years have zipped by in the wink of an eye. The birthday weekend came to a grand finale yesterday with Julie making an awesome meatloaf dinner and somewhat healthier version of a chocolate cake which was oh so good, chocolate cake is the standard for my birthdays!
It was a weekend full of little adventures that included a trip to the tiny Ybor City farmer's market followed by a trip to an old favorite...the sub shak in Tampa near our very first apartment down here. I've been going to the sub shak for the past 11 years and had established a nice friendly relationship with the owner, always getting my chicken salad sub...the best in town! Several weeks ago on a trip to the "Shak" we noticed new paint and new faces behind the counter all symbolizing a new ere of ownership, BUT the chicken salad sub remaind the same. We began a new relationship with the new owners on this past trip as I gently reminded them they had the best chicken salad sub and we come for miles just for their subs! Hopefully the chicken salad sub will remain the same as they make some good subtle changes to everything else!
Ok, enough about the sub shak! The weekend continued with a trip to the movies on Sunday...seeing a disappointing "Open Season". One of the most fun adventures we had was Olivia helping me wash the van. She really did a good job of listening and helping, and I know being sprayed in the face was an accident.
And with that, I'll look forward to all our adventures yet to come in my 36th year!!
